Process
Here’s how a Noom Med subscription works:
- Signup Form: The first step is to complete a detailed intake form, which requires basic information, weight/height numbers, and any medical information. This helps decide if you qualify for the Noom Med program (typically requiring a BMI of 30+, or 27+ with a weight-related condition).
- Lab Work: Noom may suggest lab tests to learn more about your body. The Noom subscription fee doesn’t include the labs, so you’ll have to arrange for those yourself (or use recent tests you already have).
- One-on-One Consultation with Clinician: Once your lab work is ready, Noom will connect you with a board-certified clinician for a one-on-one online consultation to review your results.
- Personalized Care Plan: Based on the consultation, the clinician will create a customized care plan. Medications prescribed may include Zepbound, Saxenda, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Contrave, Metformin, and compounded semaglutide.
- Working with Insurance: If a branded medication is prescribed, the Noom Care Team will help you navigate insurance and prior authorizations.
- Progress Tracking: As you start taking the injections, your personal clinician will connect with you periodically to monitor your progress.
Treatment Effectiveness
98% of doctors recommend pairing Noom with GLP-1 treatments, based on a January 2024 survey of actively practicing physicians who have used Noom and express familiarity with GLP-1 medications.
Its unique psychological approach to enhancing eating behaviors has helped many individuals opt for healthy, nutrient-dense foods, and track how much they consume.
Additional Features
Besides medication for weight loss, the Noom Med program offers several unique features within its app:
- Noom GLP-1 Companion with Muscle Defense™: Because GLP-1s can cause lean muscle loss, Noom includes a specific curriculum focused on preserving muscle mass while you lose fat.
- Advanced Health Tracking: In 2026, the Noom app introduced new biometric tracking tools, including a 30-second Face Scan and a Body Composition Scan to monitor your physical changes beyond just the scale.
- Daily Lessons & Color-Coded Foods: You’ll get daily psychology-based lessons and an easy-to-understand color-coded categorization of food based on calorie density.
- Coaching & Community Support (Noom Circles): You can chat with your coach directly in the app and connect with members of the Noom community to discuss your experience.
- Food and Exercise Logging: The Noom app makes it easy to log everything you consume and any physical activity to track your caloric intake and burn.
Ease of use
The Noom Med program is delivered mainly via the Noom app. Both the Noom website, where you begin the signup process, and the Noom app, have a user-friendly interface. Logging food is quick and easy, as the app readily suggests items. Daily and long-term progress is also simple to track with an intuitive reporting interface.
Post-treatment Support
Unlike many competitors that keep users on medication indefinitely, Noom heavily emphasizes its “Taper-Off Guarantee.” The goal of the CBT integration is to help users eventually taper off the medication while sustaining their weight loss through the behavioral habits they built on the app. Your assigned clinician will guide you on how and when to safely reduce your dosage.
Thank you!
Does Medicare support this?
Hi Dianne,
Unfortunately, Noom is not enrolled as a participating provider or vendor with any federal or state healthcare programs including, but not limited to, Medicare or Medicaid.
What is the exact cost per month for Noom Med. I already pay $225 somewhere else.
Hi Patty,
The Noom GLP-1Rx plan gets you direct access to compounded semaglutide starting at $149, regardless of insurance coverage.
